History of the Datcha Peninsula, which is known as the third place with the highest oxygen level in the world. It was taken under protection together with 100 places within the frame of 'Hot Spots of Europe' campaign, dates back to the 12th century B.C.

Being one of the most important centres of commerce and culture of the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean regions since classical Greece until the Byzantium period, the ancient Knidos site was a sacred place of pilgrimage thanks to the famous 'Aphrodite of Knidos'.
